September 2025 Pre-Mover Snapshot: Market Rebounds, Ontario Leads the Recovery

September saw 60,298 Canadian households flagged as pre-movers, a 5% gain from August and a 4% increase year-over-year compared to September 2024. After two months of decline, activity picked up, led by a strong rebound in Ontario and steady gains across several provinces.

🔍Provincial Highlights

 
  • Ontario surged to 30,475 households, up 6% month-over-month but still 5% behind last year’s level. The province continues to dominate national volumes.

  • Quebec tallied 10,326 pre-movers, up 11% MoM but down 6% YoY, maintaining its position as the second-strongest market.

  • British Columbia improved to 8,141, gaining 15% MoM though still 12% off from September 2024.

  • Alberta softened again to 6,639, slipping 9% MoM and 2% YoY.

  • Manitoba held steady at 1,292 (↑3% MoM, ↓6% YoY).

  • Saskatchewan fell to 1,059 (↓12% MoM, ↓3% YoY).

  • Nova Scotia dipped to 859 (↓13% MoM, ↓9% YoY).

  • New Brunswick eased to 932 (↓3% MoM, ↓6% YoY).

  • Newfoundland & Labrador recorded 430 households (↓4% MoM, ↓12% YoY).

  • Prince Edward Island was flat with 145 households (↑1% MoM, ↓19% YoY).
