Listings Plummet as 2023 Concludes
In December, Cleanlist identified 26,236 pre-movers in Canada. We traced a minor decrease of 10% in pre-movers from December 2022 to December 2023, but a whopping 43% decrease month-to-month.
Judging by 2022’s statistics, it is apparent that there is an annual trend in the number of pre-movers decreasing from November to December. Seasonal pre-mover trends are a notable factor to consider in Canada as many Canadians prefer to list in the warmer months of the year. The slight decrease in pre-movers reported from December 2022 to December 2023 is likely due to inflation, the cost of housing and the little to no drop in high-interest rates.

- Each province reported a decrease in listings from November 2023 to December 2023 ranking anywhere from a significant 38-62%.
- The provinces that saw the biggest decrease in pre-movers from November 2023 to December 2023 were Quebec (62%) and BC (54%).
- The provinces that saw the biggest decrease in pre-movers from December 2022 to December 2023 were all 4 Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick (20%), Newfoundland (19%), Nova Scotia (19%) and Prince Edward Island (19%).
