Canada recorded 7,328 new businesses in August 2026, down 29.4% from July following the previous month’s strong rebound. Reported business closures increased 12.8% to 41,326, highlighting continued business turnover and the importance of keeping Canadian business data current.
August Mover Activity Holds Steady Through Late Summer
Canada recorded 54,194 mover households in August 2026, up 0.6% from July as completed move activity remained steady through the late-summer moving season. Ontario continued to lead national activity and posted another month of growth, while several smaller provinces also recorded notable month-over-month increases.
